From Cluttered Corner to Clever Laundry: See the Alcove Makeover

As part of a wider bathroom, kitchen, and laundry renovation, the brief was to modernise a sound but dated laundry alcove without replacing the flooring or walls. The space sat in a busy thoroughfare and needed to become practical, tidy, and modern without blowing the renovation budget. The stakes were cost and disruption—deliver a compact, durable finish that made every square metre count while blending seamlessly with adjoining rooms.
What We Did
Appleton Builders fitted out the alcove with a warm solid timber benchtop and modern joinery, completing all plumbing and electrical to suit the new layout.
- Fabricated a SpecRite Golden Teak Acacia solid timber benchtop.
- Built a custom sink cabinet with one 18 mm Melteca door.
- Created an open recess beneath the benchtop to house washer and dryer.
- Installed a Mercer Pressato stainless steel sink.
- Fitted an Adesso Mode gooseneck mixer.
- Completed full plumbing and electrical connections.
Results
- Delivered for $3,482.56 (incl. GST).
- Housed both appliances under the benchtop—capacity proof.
- Achieved a tidy, modern finish that integrates with adjoining rooms.
- No plastering or painting required in this scope.
