The Bathroom That Secretly Doubles as a Laundry—Smart Design Revealed

Brief & Challenge

Also in Arthur’s Pass, the bathroom felt crowded with a separate laundry tub, washing machine, and vanity. The homeowner wanted a space-saving design that combined these elements into one integrated unit. The aim: improve usability and create a cohesive, modern look without duplicating tiling already scoped in the bathroom contract.

What We Did

We designed an integrated bathroom-laundry with a solid acrylic benchtop and custom Melteca joinery.

  • Installed a 25 mm Kondura benchtop in white.
  • Built a sink cabinet with two Melteca doors.
  • Created a recess for the washing machine.
  • Added a cubbyhole beside the sink for towels.
  • Fitted a partially recessed Michael Cesar basin.
  • Installed an Adesso Mode gooseneck mixer.
  • Completed plumbing and electrical.

Results

  • Joinery component: $4,832.61 (incl. GST).
  • Combined vanity and laundry into one space-saving unit.
  • Improved functionality with bench-over-washer layout.
  • Integrated seamlessly with main bathroom finishes.
